Yuckiness. Do you know what that feels like? For me, it is food aversions and nausea. It is not fun. I am on an antibiotic, again, for Mastitis. Yes, Jacob is still nursing. After having a Mom-Son talk about cutting out his nap time nursing, Jacob did just that. That takes us from 4 to 2 nursings. Justin and I decided it was ideal to allow Jacob to nurse until is is 18 months. Jacob cut out two nursings at the drop of a hat, in one day, after our "talk". That lead to engorgement, which then lead to an infection. My doctor warned this may happen with each significant weaning.
The worst part of it all is convincing the nurse of my issue. After a week and a half, I finally received treatment. I asked for a different nurse.
So, during all this mess, the second phone call lead to an emergency sonogram. I went into the office so they could make sure I do not have an ectopic pregnancy. I do not. So, then the nurse asked me why I was there. I did not see the doctor. And, I was being asked private information in the busy hallway, not in a room. I told her I had the pain for almost two weeks accompanied by fever and I was weaning. She said I must have heartburn. She gave me a list of medications I can safely take for heartburn. What? I thought the nurse was crazy. She was.
As I suspected, I had Mastitis. My very first bout with the infection was when Jacob was 6 weeks. My family doctor diagnosed me. I had horrible pains in my abdomen and it had spread to my lungs. I do not feel the pain in my breast tissue, it radiates out. I also had a horrible fever. My current infection began to mirror my first infection.
Friday I spoke with a different nurse. She sided with me.
It does not help that I am also 7 weeks pregnant. In the emergency doctor 's visit last week, I did see my new 'little one' and it's heart beat. The technician said it was unusual to see and hear the heart beat at 6 weeks. It was like small strikes of lightening pulsating on the screen. The heartbeat was much slower than Jacob's. We saw his heartbeat at 6 weeks, and heard it at 8. It was always fast, strong and very forceful. This baby's heart is slow and quiet. Just from that, I believe it is a girl. After I finish my medication on Friday, I will be better able to tell if I also have morning sickness. I am praying daily for no morning sickness.
And, as a reminder of a blessing, I would like to praise some wonderful ladies. Two years ago, just as I began my morning sickness I also began a new job. It was so horrible. Justin was out of town with his new job, we were selling our house, and I was sick as can be. Kalley, Amanda, Stacie and Shari helped me considerably at my new job. They gave me great advice on being pregnant, and were very understanding. Thank you for blessing me at such a new and difficult time in my life!
Yes. I am pregnant. Please pray for me. I gained so much with Jacob. I gained 1/2 of my body weight with him. Weeks before becoming pregnant this time, I began running and weight lifting. I have always (from birth) been a runner, with the exception of the past two years. My goal is to continue running, biking, and weight training as long as possible to help keep my weight healthy.
I will have pictures soon. We have been Downtown a couple of times with stories to tell, visited with Stephanie & David, fed ducks, picked pumpkins at a farm, had two birthdays, and have an upcoming airshow. Lots of pictures to share with you very soon!!!
***Update***
Did I mention, that even though it is not my timing, it is a blessing to be pregnant!!!
