Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!!

Well, it has been a while since my last post. Things have been crazy!!! At the beginning of December we set out to find a new main vehicle for our family. We purchased our first vehicle as a couple days before Christmas. It is also my first time to buy a car (and have a car payment). We finally settled on a 2007 Chevy Tahoe. I'll post a picture later.

So, what else has happened in the past month? Jacob's bottom front teeth came through three weeks ago. One upper front tooth began pushing through at Christmas and is now half way in. When Jacob is teething, you know it! He wakes up several times in the night and wants Mommy to hold him all night. Mommy is then tired...and Daddie ends up making dinner.

Jacob is now a pro pulling up on furniture, window sills, and just about anything he can find. He is just precious! He even takes a few steps while holding on to the couch or the dog...again, anything he can find to take a few steps.

Right now Justin and I are hopelessly teaching Jacob to fall asleep unassisted. When Jacob was born, he came out screaming-loudly. And, that volume has only increased as he approaches 9 months.
A few nights ago Jacob awoke around 4 a.m. I tried to ignore him to see if he would return to sleeping. After 10 minutes the cry became more intense. Justin enters Jacob's room-Jacob is standing in his crib, mouth wide open and letting out the biggest noise he can make. His cries sound like a roaring tiger most days.

We have tried the "cry it out" approach over the past month. Jacob does not stop crying. I thought that perhaps I was not letting him cry long enough. An hour? An hour and a half? He still cries and begins to choke on his big tears. So, I have begun a different approach. When he wakes, I pat his back or rock him back to sleep without nursing. Maybe it is catching on. Last night Jacob woke up twice and both times he put himself to sleep.

Other than that, Jacob is just wonderful. He is learning more and more every day! He is such a blessing, and I praise God that He made Jacob and gave him to me. And, Justin likes him a lot too! I tell Jacob all the time..."you are perfectly and wonderfully made"...and I tell him God said that about him and all of us in His Word.

Look for my next posts in the upcoming days...it is sure to brighten your day!
