Show Us Your Life – Wedding Dress

I am a little late on this! This was suppose to post on Friday…better late than never! This tour is hosted by Kelly's Korner.

Our wedding was wonderful. We had a short engagement and I had started a stressful job and traveled to Taiwan for a mission trip with my church during that time. My dress arrived while I was in Taiwan, six weeks prior to the big day! My Marisa dress was found online. I wanted a silk dress instead of satin. I love the way silk drapes and pools. I went to Dallas and tried it on. I actually did a foolish thing and bought it there. It was expensive! The next day, after flying back to Amarillo, I looked online and found it for ½ the price at a bridal shop in Midland, Texas. I ordered it there and had to get alterations when it came in.
My dress is falling off of me in all of my pictures. After the alterations, which made the dress perfect, I sent it to be steamed. Very important with silk! Instead they pressed my dress and it expanded! I didn’t know when I arrived to have my bridal portraits. So, my bra is peaking out in almost all of my pictures. And, the issue didn’t get resolved before the wedding - two weeks later – as alterations said they could not do another set of alterations. Grrr!

(This is where Justin proposed to me - beside a little pond along the highway - when I was a little girl, I loved looking out the window as we passed - I loved this place - and Justin had no idea!)

I love my dress. I love the drop waist, the beading at the neckline (it is straight, not sweetheart. The beads dip in the middle since the dress expanded and lost tightness across the bust area.), and the lower back. I am so excited to share it with my little girl someday! My veil was made by my dear friend Dee. It has two tiers, the one in the pictures and a longer tier added for the wedding ceremony.

My hair, dress, and cake were not exactly as I had planned at all. However, it was a wonderful, fast day filled with a lot of emotion (mainly because I didn’t eat all day! Oops!). Justin thought I was beautiful, and that is what matters! And, nearly four years and two children later, Justin says he still feels that way today! What a sweetie!

I love you Justin!!!!
